Captain Elsa Has a Cold
Captain Elsa has a bad cold and can’t use any superpowers. Sidekick Esme has to save the day!
Captain Elsa the elephant was the strongest superhero in the city. She could lift buses and fly over buildings. And Esme the rabbit was her sidekick, who always carried the snacks.
One morning, Captain Elsa woke up sneezing. ‘A-A-A-CHOO!’ She had a terrible cold. Her nose was red and her cape was soggy. ‘I can’t fly,’ she sniffled. ‘I can’t lift anything.’
Just then, the alarm rang. DING-DONG! In the city, a kite was stuck high in a tree. ‘Quick, Esme!’ said Captain Elsa, wiping her nose. ‘You’ll have to go.’ Esme gulped. ‘Me?’
Esme ran to the scene. A crowd had gathered, looking worried. Idris the hippo said, ‘Where’s the Captain?’ ‘He’s sick,’ said Esme. ‘But I’m here. I’ll fix it!’
Esme wasn’t strong, but she was clever. She looked at the problem from every side. Then she had an idea. She made a long stick with a hook and gently lifted it down. And it worked!
The crowd burst into cheers. ‘Hooray for Esme!’ they shouted. Esme blushed so hard that her ears went pink. She had done it all herself.
Back home, Captain Elsa was sipping hot lemon. ‘You saved the day,’ said Elsa, between sneezes. ‘From now on, you’re not a sidekick. You’re my partner.’ And Esme got a brand-new cape with a golden star.
