Daisy Makes Soup for Everyone
Daisy is making soup, but the sugar and salt got swapped, and so did a few other things!
Daisy the deer was cooking soup for dinner. She chopped carrots. She stirred and stirred. The kitchen smelled almost ready. ‘Now for the seasoning,’ said Daisy, humming.
But Daisy wasn’t looking carefully. She grabbed the wrong jar. In went mint leaves instead of parsley! Daisy gave the soup a big stir. It looked okay. It smelled okay. She didn’t know about the mistake yet.
Soon, Dylan the elephant and Gus the squirrel arrived, rubbing their tummies. ‘Soup’s ready!’ said Daisy proudly. Everybody sat down. Everybody picked up a spoon.
Dylan took a big slurp. Dylan’s eyes went round. Gus took a mouthful. Gus’s whiskers curled. It was fresh and cool! ‘Hmm,’ said Dylan. ‘It’s... Interesting.’
Daisy took a taste. ‘Oh no!’ she gasped. ‘I used the wrong jar!’ Her ears went pink. She wanted to hide under the table. But Gus burst into giggles, and then Dylan did too.
‘Let’s fix it!’ said Dylan. They added a bit of this and a bit of that. Some extra carrots, a squeeze of lemon, a pinch of the right seasoning. They tasted again. ‘Perfect!’
They ate every drop. ‘It’s the best soup ever,’ said Dylan. ‘Even better than the first one,’ said Gus. Daisy laughed. ‘Okay,’ she said, ‘but next time, I’m reading the labels.’
