Faye and the Great Blue
Faye is a little fish with a big wish: to see what lies beyond the coral reef.
Faye was a little fish who lived in the coral reef. Every day, she swam round the same rocks and the same pink coral, and every day she wondered, ‘What’s out there, beyond the reef?’
One morning, Faye took a deep gulp of water and swam out past the last piece of coral. The sea became blue, and bigger, and deeper. Faye’s fins went flutter-flutter-flutter.
Then a great shadow floated overhead. It was Mia the whale! ‘Hello, little one,’ said Mia, in a voice like a deep, warm hum. ‘Where are you going?’ ‘I’m exploring,’ said Faye, a little bit squeaky.
‘Hop on,’ said Mia. Faye swam up and sat on the whale’s back. They glided over a field of swaying seaweed. Faye’s eyes grew as round as pearls. There was so much to see!
Soon, Juno the jellyfish waved from a rock. ‘Don’t go too far!’ called Juno. ‘It’s nearly teatime!’ Faye suddenly noticed a little rumble in her tummy. She missed her home.
Mia gave Faye a ride all the way back to the reef. ‘Thank you,’ said Faye. ‘I saw so many wonders.’ ‘You can see more tomorrow,’ said Mia. And Faye swam home to sleep in her cosy coral bed.
