Faye and the Missing Boot
It’s match day, but Faye can only find one boot. Where could it be?
It was match day! Faye woke up early and pulled on her shirt. But where was her left boot? She had one boot. Only one boot!
Faye looked under the bed. No boot. She looked in the cupboard. No boot. She even looked in the shoe box. Just one very surprised sock.
Outside, Kai the boy came bouncing along the path. ‘Why the long face?’ asked Kai. ‘I can’t find my boot,’ sighed Faye. ‘Let’s look together!’
They looked high and low. Kai peeked this way. Faye peeked that way. Then Kai gave a great big gasp. ‘Look! Look!’
There was the missing boot, in the picnic basket! ‘Maybe it was hungry for sandwiches!’ giggled Kai. Faye laughed so hard she got the hiccups.
Faye laced up both boots, tie, tie, tie, and the two friends raced off to Sunnyside Park. They arrived just as the whistle was about to blow.
Faye played the best game ever. Both boots on, both feet happy. And after the game, Faye put her boots right by the door, side by side.
