Lemonade for Everyone, Says Ruby
Ruby opens a lemonade stand to earn money, but ends up giving away more than she sells.
It was a boiling hot day. Ruby set up a lemonade stand outside the house with a sign that said, ‘Lemonade 10p’. She was saving up for a new bicycle.
The first customer was Jess, who had been playing football. Jess was red-faced and thirsty but had no money. Ruby filled a cup anyway. ‘It’s on the house,’ she said. Jess gulped it down with a grin.
Then Bear the bear came by, looking hot and tired. Ruby gave him a cup and a seat in the shade. ‘You’re very kind,’ said Bear. ‘Please, have a second.’
By evening, Ruby had given away nearly every cup. Hardly any coins were in the jar. But Ruby felt warm inside. ‘Maybe I’ll save up another day,’ she thought.
Just then, Bear came back, carrying something wrapped in paper. ‘I was thinking about your kindness,’ said Bear. Inside was a new bicycle. ‘For the kindest lemonade seller in town.’
The little lesson

Let’s talk about it
