Lola Says Hello
Lola is so shy that she hides from everyone, until a friend needs help.
Lola the little bird was very, very shy. When anyone said hello, Lola hid behind a log. ‘Maybe they won’t notice me,’ she whispered.
One windy day, Louie the lion came by. Louie was sniffling. ‘I’ve lost my sparkly gem,’ said Louie. ‘It blew away, and I can’t find it anywhere.’
Lola peeked out. She wanted to help, but her voice felt tiny. ‘I... I... ‘ she began. But the words were too small to hear.
Then Lola saw something shiny high up on a branch. It was the sparkly gem! Lola was small and quick, so she climbed up, up, up, and gently plucked it down.
Lola tiptoed over to Louie and held out the sparkly gem. ‘Oh!’ said Louie. ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you!’ Louie gave Lola the biggest hug.
‘Would you like to be friends?’ asked Louie. Lola took a tiny breath. ‘Yes,’ she said. It was the loudest yes she had ever said.
