Milo and the Cookie Mystery
Someone has taken every cookie from the cookie jar! Milo the detective is on the case.
Milo the detective put on a hat and picked up a magnifying glass. ‘A case!’ he said. Kai the kitten was standing in the kitchen with a very sad face. ‘Someone has taken all my cookies,’ said Kai.
‘First, we look for clues,’ said Milo. He knelt down and examined the floor. There was a sweet smell leading outside! ‘Aha,’ said Milo. He wrote it in his notebook. ‘Follow me.’
They followed the clue out of the back door and down the garden path. Past the rosebush. Past the old well. Round the corner, right up to a small blue shed. Kai gulped. ‘Someone’s inside!’
Milo knocked softly. The door creaked open. And there was Louie the lamb, wearing an apron, surrounded by plates and plates of cookies. ‘Oh!’ Louie said. ‘You’ve found me!’
‘I’m so sorry,’ said Louie. ‘I borrowed your cookies for the party for the new baby. I wanted to ask you, but you were out. I was going to bake some more to replace them.’ Kai blinked.
‘You could have just asked,’ said Kai. ‘I’d have baked more! That’s a very good thing to do.’ Milo closed the notebook. ‘Case closed,’ he said. ‘No crime here, only good cookies.’
So everybody helped bake the rest. And on the day of the party for the new baby, there were more than a hundred cookies to share. Milo was given the very first one, as payment for solving the case.
