Omar’s Spell Goes Wrong
Omar is trying to tidy up with a spell, but a few words get muddled. Everything goes bonkers!
Omar was the wizard’s apprentice. Today, Wizard Beth the deer was out, and the tower was in a terrible mess. ‘I’ll use magic to tidy up!’ said Omar. ‘How hard can it be?’
Omar flicked his wand and said the words from the big spell book: ‘Tidy-tum, tidy-tee, put things where they ought to be!’ But he was in such a hurry that he muddled the words.
POOF! All the spoons suddenly turned into tiny drummers! It went rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat all around the room. Omar’s mouth fell open. ‘Oh no. Oh no, no, no.’
Omar tried again. POOF! The ink pot started singing. POOF! The candles began to dance. Things were getting sillier by the second. ‘Stop, stop, STOP!’ cried Omar.
Just then, the door creaked open. It was Beth the deer, back from the market. He stood quite still, looking at the dancing candles and the singing ink. Omar gulped.
‘I’m sorry,’ Omar said quickly. ‘I tried to do a spell and got the words wrong. I should have waited for you.’ Beth didn’t shout. She gave a kind, wrinkly smile.
‘Mistakes are how wizards learn,’ said Beth. Together they said the words slowly and carefully, and everything went back to normal. And this time, Omar tidied up the old-fashioned way, with a broom.
