Percy Flies to the Moon
Percy counts down and blasts off for the very first time. Whoosh!
Percy the piglet was an astronaut. Today was his first flight into space! He put on his helmet and climbed into the shiny red rocket with Pip the penguin.
βReady?β asked Pip. βReady!β said Percy. They counted together. βFive! Four! Three! Two! One!β WHOOOOSH! The rocket blasted up into the sky.
Up, up, up they went, past the birds, past the clouds. The sky turned from blue to dark blue to black. Tiny stars twinkled all around. βWow,β whispered Percy.
Percy looked out of the window and saw a big orange planet. βLook!β he said. βItβs the biggest thing I ever saw!β Pip pressed his nose against the glass.
The rocket landed softly on the moon with a gentle bump. Percy stepped out. With each step, he floated up. Boing! Boing! Boing! He could jump higher than a house!
They planted a little flag, and waved to the blue Earth far away. βHello, home!β they called. Then they looked at each other and laughed with joy.
Then it was time to go home. Percy fell asleep on the way, dreaming of planets and stars. And when he woke up, he was in bed, still holding a tiny moon rock.
The little lesson
