Priya Meets the Big Round Ball
Priya the puppy has never kicked a ball before. Today is the big day!
Priya the puppy loved watching the big kids play football at Bluebell Common. The ball went zoom, zoom, zoom! She wished she could play too.
‘Do you want to play?’ asked Felix the fox. Priya nodded. Felix rolled the ball across the grass, all the way to Priya’s feet.
Priya took a big swing and KICK! Oh no! The ball bounced the wrong way and rolled into the bushes. ‘Never mind,’ said Felix. ‘Try again!’
Priya tried again. And again. She wobbled. She tumbled. She giggled. Kicking was much harder than it looked!
Then Priya took a deep breath. ‘Eyes on the ball,’ she whispered. She kicked. THUMP! The ball rolled straight to Felix. ‘You did it!’ cheered Felix.
They kicked the ball back and forth until the sun began to sink. Priya had some sweet grapes for being brave.
Priya skipped home with muddy knees and a great big smile. Tomorrow, she would kick even better. Hooray for Priya!
