Priya Mixes Up the Magic
Priya is trying to tidy up with a spell, but a few words get muddled. Everything goes bonkers!
Priya was the wizard’s apprentice. Today, Wizard Pippa the deer was out, and the tower was in a terrible mess. ‘I’ll use magic to tidy up!’ said Priya. ‘How hard can it be?’
Priya flicked her wand and said the words from the big spell book: ‘Tidy-tum, tidy-tee, put things where they ought to be!’ But she was in such a hurry that she muddled the words.
POOF! The sofa suddenly turned into a jelly mountain! It went wobble, wobble, wobble all around the room. Priya’s mouth fell open. ‘Oh no. Oh no, no, no.’
Priya tried again. POOF! The ink pot started singing. POOF! The candles began to dance. Things were getting sillier by the second. ‘Stop, stop, STOP!’ cried Priya.
Just then, the door creaked open. It was Pippa the deer, back from the market. She stood quite still, looking at the dancing candles and the singing ink. Priya gulped.
‘I’m sorry,’ Priya said quickly. ‘I tried to do a spell and got the words wrong. I should have waited for you.’ Pippa didn’t shout. She gave a kind, wrinkly smile.
‘Mistakes are how wizards learn,’ said Pippa. Together they said the words slowly and carefully, and everything went back to normal. And this time, Priya tidied up the old-fashioned way, with a broom.
The little lesson
