Ravi Explores the Haunted House
Ravi and friends dare each other to look inside the spooky house. What they find is a surprise.
At the end of the street stood a tall, dark house with creaky shutters and a crooked door. Everyone said it was haunted. One windy evening, Tessa dared Ravi to knock.
Ravi gulped, but nodded. They crept up the path, step by step. The gate squeaked. A shutter banged. Something moved behind the curtain. They held hands tightly.
Ravi knocked. The door creaked slowly open. A tall shadow appeared. ‘Hello?’ it said. They screamed! But it was only Benji the bear, holding a plate of carrot cake.
‘Don’t be frightened,’ said Benji. ‘Come in, come in.’ Inside it was warm and bright. They met a retired magician with a rabbit. ‘We thought you were a ghost!’ laughed Tessa. ‘I get that a lot,’ said Benji.
They stayed for hours, eating carrot cake and hearing stories. When they left, Ravi said, ‘Thank you for having us.’ ‘Come back anytime,’ said Benji. And the house never seemed spooky again.
The little lesson
Don’t judge a place or person by looks.
Let’s talk about it
- What did they expect to find?
- What did they actually find?
