Sia’s Lemonade Stand
Sia opens a lemonade stand to earn money, but ends up giving away more than she sells.
It was a boiling hot day. Sia set up a lemonade stand outside the house with a sign that said, ‘Lemonade 10p’. She was saving up for a big kite.
The first customer was Mia, who had been playing football. Mia was red-faced and thirsty but had no money. Sia filled a cup anyway. ‘It’s on the house,’ she said. Mia gulped it down with a grin.
Then Dev the deer came by, looking hot and tired. Sia gave him a cup and a seat in the shade. ‘You’re very kind,’ said Dev. ‘Please, have a second.’
By evening, Sia had given away nearly every cup. Hardly any coins were in the jar. But Sia felt warm inside. ‘Maybe I’ll save up another day,’ she thought.
Just then, Dev came back, carrying something wrapped in paper. ‘I was thinking about your kindness,’ said Dev. Inside was a big kite. ‘For the kindest lemonade seller in town.’
The little lesson
