Splash! Chloe Takes the Plunge
Chloe is afraid of the deep water, but a patient friend helps her take one little step at a time.
The swimming pool was huge and blue. Chloe stood at the edge, toes curled. The water looked so deep. βI canβt do it,β Chloe whispered. Her knees were wobbling.
Percy the bear smiled kindly. βWeβll go slowly,β he said. βFirst, just put your feet in.β Chloe sat on the side and dipped her toes. Splash! It was cool and nice.
Next, Chloe stepped into the shallow end with a foam float. Tomas the turtle swam beside her. βIβll stay right here,β said Tomas. Chloe kicked. Splash, splash, splash!
Day by day, Chloe did more. She blew bubbles. She floated on her back, looking at the ceiling lights. She even put her face in the water. Each time, Tomas cheered.
At last, the day came. Chloe pushed off the wall and swam, all by herself, across the pool. βIβm swimming!β she shouted. Everyone applauded. Chloe had never felt so proud.
