Tariq’s Lemonade Stand
Tariq opens a lemonade stand to earn money, but ends up giving away more than he sells.
It was a boiling hot day. Tariq set up a lemonade stand outside the house with a sign that said, ‘Lemonade 10p’. He was saving up for a football.
The first customer was Mateo, who had been playing football. Mateo was red-faced and thirsty but had no money. Tariq filled a cup anyway. ‘It’s on the house,’ he said. Mateo gulped it down with a grin.
Then Daisy the deer came by, looking hot and tired. Tariq gave her a cup and a seat in the shade. ‘You’re very kind,’ said Daisy. ‘Please, have a second.’
By evening, Tariq had given away nearly every cup. Hardly any coins were in the jar. But Tariq felt warm inside. ‘Maybe I’ll save up another day,’ he thought.
Just then, Daisy came back, carrying something wrapped in paper. ‘I was thinking about your kindness,’ said Daisy. Inside was a football. ‘For the kindest lemonade seller in town.’
