Tessa Makes a Rainbow
Tessa wonders where rainbows come from, and discovers how to make one at home.
After the rain, a rainbow arced across the sky. βWhere do rainbows come from?β Tessa asked Enzo the elephant. Enzo didnβt know. So Tessa decided to find out.
Tessa read that rainbows happen when sunlight shines through raindrops. The light bends and splits into seven colours. βI could do that,β Tessa thought, βat home!β
Tessa stood in the sunlight with a glass of water. She held it up, and tilted it. Suddenly, the wall lit up with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet! βA rainbow!β Tessa cried.
Enzo tried to catch the colours with his paws, but they slipped away. They laughed, and danced in the little rainbow until the sun slid behind a cloud.
That evening, Tessa drew a picture of the rainbow in a notebook. βNow I know,β she wrote. βLight has all the colours inside it.β And Tessa smiled, feeling like a real scientist.
