The Clever Maya
Maya is thirsty, but the water is too low in the jug. A clever idea saves the day!
It was a hot, dry day. Maya the mouse was very thirsty. She flew and flew, but all the ponds had dried up. At last, she spotted a jug under a tree.
Maya peeked inside. There was water, but only at the very bottom. Her beak couldnβt reach. She tried to tip the jug, but it was too heavy. Maya was sad and tired.
Then Maya had a clever idea. She picked up a pebble and dropped it in. Plink! The water rose a little. Maya dropped another. Plink! And another.
Plink, plink, plink! Soon the water rose to the top. Maya dipped her beak and drank, and drank. βAhh,β sighed Maya. βThinking helps more than worrying.β
