The Hidden Waterfall of Rani

Rani and friends hike through the jungle to find a waterfall that no one has ever seen.

Rani and Rocco found an old map in a book. It showed a hidden waterfall deep in the rainforest, marked with the words, ‘Follow the singing.’ They packed their backpacks and set off.

A guide named Zara the zebra met them at the edge of the trees. ‘The jungle is full of surprises,’ said Zara. ‘Stay together and listen carefully.’ The three walked deeper into the green.

The path was hard. They crossed a swampy bog, balancing on logs. They climbed a steep, slippery hill. Rocco nearly gave up. ‘We can do it,’ said Rani, ‘if we help each other.’ Rani held out a hand.

At last, they heard it, a soft musical sound, like a hundred tiny bells. They pushed through the leaves, and gasped. A silver waterfall poured down a cliff, with a rainbow in the mist and glittering butterflies all around.

‘It’s the Singing Falls,’ whispered Zara. ‘The water makes music as it hits the stones.’ They sat in the cool spray and listened. Rani thought it was the loveliest sound in the world.

They promised to keep the place secret and safe. On the way home, Rocco said, ‘I’m glad you didn’t let me quit.’ Rani grinned. ‘That’s what friends are for.’
