The Soup of Aisha
Aisha makes soup from a stone, and the whole village adds one thing at a time.
Aisha the penguin arrived in a village on a cold evening, very hungry. The people shut their doors. βWe have nothing to spare,β they said. Aisha sat in the square, thinking.
Then Aisha lit a fire and filled a big pot with water. She dropped in a smooth round stone. βIβm making stone soup,β she announced. βItβs magic. It only needs a little something extra.β
Luca the lamb peeked out. βStone soup?β he said. βI have some onions.β Into the pot they went. Then Opal the owl brought herbs. Cleo the cow brought a bag of rice.
The soup bubbled and smelled wonderful. Soon the whole village gathered round with bowls and spoons. Everyone shared, and there was plenty for all.
βBest soup I ever had,β said Cleo. Aisha smiled and fished out the stone. βThe magic wasnβt in the stone,β she said. βIt was in sharing.β And the village was never unfriendly again.
