Alfie the Octopus Plays Hide and Seek
Alfie the octopus is the best hider in the sea. Can anybody find him?
Alfie the octopus could do a clever trick. He could change colour to match anything! Today, he wanted to play hide-and-seek with Tara and Cosmo.
βOne, two, three, four, five,β counted Tara, covering his eyes. Alfie wriggled away through the water. He swam to the blue water. And he turned blue! His arms and body blended in.
Tara opened his eyes. βReady or not, here I come!β Tara swam over the sandy bed. βAre you under this shell? No.β Tara looked behind the rock. βNo.β Tara looked inside a bottle. βNo.β
Cosmo looked up and down. βWhere could Alfie be?β Cosmo wondered. They looked all over the sea. Nothing. They looked a second time. Nothing. They were completely stumped.
Then Tara giggled. βI can see two eyes!β Two big eyes were peeking out from the blue water, and they were blinking. Alfie burst out laughing, turned back to normal, and everyone cheered.
βYour turn to hide!β said Alfie. And so they played again and again, until the water grew dark. They went home with tired fins and happy hearts, and all dreamed of colourful sea games.
