Arlo Follows the Rainbow Mist

Arlo and friends hike through the jungle to find a waterfall that no one has ever seen.

Arlo and Jack found an old map in a book. It showed a hidden waterfall deep in the rainforest, marked with the words, ‘Follow the singing.’ They packed their backpacks and set off.

A guide named Lena the lion met them at the edge of the trees. ‘The jungle is full of surprises,’ said Lena. ‘Stay together and listen carefully.’ The three walked deeper into the green.

The path was hard. They crossed a swampy bog, balancing on logs. They climbed a steep, slippery hill. Jack nearly gave up. ‘We can do it,’ said Arlo, ‘if we help each other.’ Arlo held out a hand.

At last, they heard it, a soft musical sound, like a hundred tiny bells. They pushed through the leaves, and gasped. A silver waterfall poured down a cliff, with a rainbow in the mist and sparkling pools all around.

‘It’s the Singing Falls,’ whispered Lena. ‘The water makes music as it hits the stones.’ They sat in the cool spray and listened. Arlo thought it was the loveliest sound in the world.

They promised to keep the place secret and safe. On the way home, Jack said, ‘I’m glad you didn’t let me quit.’ Arlo grinned. ‘That’s what friends are for.’
