Chugga-chugga, chugga-chugga, choo, choo. The little night train rolled into the station. It was painted dark blue with silver stars. ‘All aboard for Dreamland!’ called the driver softly.
Cosmo the lamb climbed aboard in his nightcap, yawning. ‘Ticket, please,’ said the driver. Cosmo handed over a little piece of paper. There was a seat by the window, with a soft, squashy cushion.
At Cuddly Corner, the train stopped. Ravi the kitten hopped on, carrying a teddy. ‘May I sit here?’ asked Ravi. ‘Of course,’ whispered Cosmo. They shared a blanket.
Chugga-chugga, chugga-chugga. The train went over a gentle hill. It went through a tunnel of stars. Outside the window, fields of silver passed by. Mia the mouse joined them.
Chugga... Chugga... Chugga... The train slowed down. Its rhythm was soft and slow, like a heartbeat. Cosmo’s head rested on Ravi’s shoulder. Ravi’s head rested on Mia.
‘Next stop, Dreamland,’ whispered the driver. But the passengers were already there, fast asleep. Chugga... Chugga... Shhh.
