Dani Goes to Monster School
Dani is a little monster who finds school very, very hard, until she discovers her own talent.
Dani the dragon was starting Monster School. The classroom was full of little monsters. Kai the unicorn said, ‘Today, we will practise roaring.’ Everyone roared except Dani.
Dani tried to roar, but only a tiny squeak came out. The other monsters giggled. Dani’s cheeks went purple. She wished she could disappear. Dexter said, ‘Don’t worry. It takes practice.’
Next was stomping, and Dani stomped too lightly. Then jumping, but Dani bumped her head. Dani felt like the worst monster ever. At lunchtime, she sat alone with a sandwich.
After lunch, Kai said, ‘Show us what you are best at.’ Dani gulped. Then she painted a brilliant picture. The class gasped. It was wonderful! Nobody else could do that.
‘You have a gift for drawing,’ said Kai. Dexter grinned. ‘Better than roaring!’ Dani beamed. ‘I’m a good monster after all.’ And from then on, Dani was a star of Monster School.
