Dexter the dinosaur was having a sleepover! Yuki the little bird and Manu the mouse were coming, and they’d brought pillows, blankets and teddies.
First, they built a blanket fort. Then they had a midnight feast of ginger biscuits. Dexter laughed so much that his big tail knocked over the lamp.
Then it was time for bed. Dexter climbed into his big, comfy bed. ‘Goodnight,’ said Yuki. ‘Goodnight,’ said Manu. The light went off, and the room became very dark.
Dexter lay awake. He thought about how very big and dark the night was. His tail twitched. ‘Are you awake?’ whispered Yuki. ‘I can’t sleep,’ said Dexter.
‘I can’t either,’ said Manu. ‘I have an idea,’ said Yuki, and pulled out a firefly jar. The room filled with a warm, soft glow. The dark didn’t feel big anymore.
The three friends snuggled together, looking at the light until their eyes grew heavy. Soon, all that could be heard was three tiny snores. And one great big dino snore.
The little lesson
