Enzo the Octopus Plays Hide and Seek
Enzo the octopus is the best hider in the sea. Can anybody find him?
Enzo the octopus could do a clever trick. He could change colour to match anything! Today, he wanted to play hide-and-seek with Cleo and Danny.
‘One, two, three, four, five,’ counted Cleo, covering his eyes. Enzo wriggled away through the water. He swam to the purple anemone. And he turned purple! His arms and body blended in.
Cleo opened his eyes. ‘Ready or not, here I come!’ Cleo swam over the sandy bed. ‘Are you under this shell? No.’ Cleo looked behind the rock. ‘No.’ Cleo looked inside a bottle. ‘No.’
Danny looked up and down. ‘Where could Enzo be?’ Danny wondered. They looked all over the sea. Nothing. They looked a second time. Nothing. They were completely stumped.
Then Cleo giggled. ‘I can see two eyes!’ Two big eyes were peeking out from the purple anemone, and they were blinking. Enzo burst out laughing, turned back to normal, and everyone cheered.
‘Your turn to hide!’ said Enzo. And so they played again and again, until the water grew dark. They went home with tired fins and happy hearts, and all dreamed of colourful sea games.
