Faye the Sidekick
Captain Zoe has a bad cold and can’t use any superpowers. Sidekick Faye has to save the day!
Captain Zoe the zebra was the strongest superhero in the city. She could lift buses and fly over buildings. And Faye the frog was her sidekick, who always carried the snacks.
One morning, Captain Zoe woke up sneezing. ‘A-A-A-CHOO!’ She had a terrible cold. Her nose was red and her cape was soggy. ‘I can’t fly,’ she sniffled. ‘I can’t lift anything.’
Just then, the alarm rang. DING-DONG! In the city, a huge boulder was blocking the bridge. ‘Quick, Faye!’ said Captain Zoe, wiping her nose. ‘You’ll have to go.’ Faye gulped. ‘Me?’
Faye ran to the scene. A crowd had gathered, looking worried. Pip the piglet said, ‘Where’s the Captain?’ ‘He’s sick,’ said Faye. ‘But I’m here. I’ll fix it!’
Faye wasn’t strong, but she was clever. She looked at the problem from every side. Then she had an idea. She used a plank as a lever to roll it away. And it worked!
The crowd burst into cheers. ‘Hooray for Faye!’ they shouted. Faye blushed so hard that her ears went pink. She had done it all herself.
Back home, Captain Zoe was sipping hot lemon. ‘You saved the day,’ said Zoe, between sneezes. ‘From now on, you’re not a sidekick. You’re my partner.’ And Faye got a brand-new cape with a golden star.
