Hattie’s Kindest Stand on Felix’s Street
Hattie opens a lemonade stand to earn money, but ends up giving away more than she sells.
It was a boiling hot day. Hattie set up a lemonade stand outside the house with a sign that said, ‘Lemonade 10p’. She was saving up for a big kite.
The first customer was Felix, who had been playing football. Felix was red-faced and thirsty but had no money. Hattie filled a cup anyway. ‘It’s on the house,’ she said. Felix gulped it down with a grin.
Then Tessa the turtle came by, looking hot and tired. Hattie gave her a cup and a seat in the shade. ‘You’re very kind,’ said Tessa. ‘Please, have a second.’
By evening, Hattie had given away nearly every cup. Hardly any coins were in the jar. But Hattie felt warm inside. ‘Maybe I’ll save up another day,’ she thought.
Just then, Tessa came back, carrying something wrapped in paper. ‘I was thinking about your kindness,’ said Tessa. Inside was a big kite. ‘For the kindest lemonade seller in town.’
The little lesson

Let’s talk about it
