Hugo the Sidekick
Captain Tilly has a bad cold and can’t use any superpowers. Sidekick Hugo has to save the day!
Captain Tilly the tiger was the strongest superhero in the city. He could lift buses and fly over buildings. And Hugo the hedgehog was her sidekick, who always carried the snacks.
One morning, Captain Tilly woke up sneezing. ‘A-A-A-CHOO!’ She had a terrible cold. Her nose was red and her cape was soggy. ‘I can’t fly,’ she sniffled. ‘I can’t lift anything.’
Just then, the alarm rang. DING-DONG! In the city, a huge boulder was blocking the bridge. ‘Quick, Hugo!’ said Captain Tilly, wiping her nose. ‘You’ll have to go.’ Hugo gulped. ‘Me?’
Hugo ran to the scene. A crowd had gathered, looking worried. Pearl the pony said, ‘Where’s the Captain?’ ‘He’s sick,’ said Hugo. ‘But I’m here. I’ll fix it!’
Hugo wasn’t strong, but he was clever. He looked at the problem from every side. Then he had an idea. He used a plank as a lever to roll it away. And it worked!
The crowd burst into cheers. ‘Hooray for Hugo!’ they shouted. Hugo blushed so hard that his ears went pink. He had done it all himself.
Back home, Captain Tilly was sipping hot lemon. ‘You saved the day,’ said Tilly, between sneezes. ‘From now on, you’re not a sidekick. You’re my partner.’ And Hugo got a brand-new cape with a golden star.
