Ivy the tiger packed a picnic basket full of cheese sandwiches and a flask of fizzy juice. ‘The moon is the perfect place for a picnic,’ she said, and zoomed up in the rocket.
On the moon, Ivy met Alfie the alien, a friendly alien, and Rosie the robot. ‘We love picnics!’ said Alfie. They spread a blanket on the grey, dusty ground.
But as soon as Ivy unpacked the cheese sandwiches, they floated away! Up they went, one by one, drifting like little balloons. ‘Catch them!’ shouted Ivy.
Ivy jumped to catch one and flew ten metres in the air. Alfie bounced after them and ended up upside down. Rosie did a somersault, beeped and landed in a crater.
Then the fizzy juice popped open, and a big blob of juice floated into the air like a wobbly orange moon. Everyone burst out laughing. They lay on their backs and tried to catch it in their mouths.
After a while, the picnic was all eaten, or at least caught. Ivy had juice on her helmet and crumbs in her suit. ‘Best picnic ever,’ she sighed. ‘Same time next week?’ said Alfie.
The little lesson
Sometimes plans go wrong, and the funniest bits are the best bits.
Let’s talk about it
