Chugga-chugga, chugga-chugga, choo, choo. The little night train rolled into the station. It was painted dark blue with silver stars. ‘All aboard for Dreamland!’ called the driver softly.
Jack the piglet climbed aboard in his nightcap, yawning. ‘Ticket, please,’ said the driver. Jack handed over a little piece of paper. There was a seat by the window, with a soft, squashy cushion.
At Moonbeam Halt, the train stopped. Flo the lamb hopped on, carrying a teddy. ‘May I sit here?’ asked Flo. ‘Of course,’ whispered Jack. They shared a blanket.
Chugga-chugga, chugga-chugga. The train went over a gentle hill. It went through a tunnel of stars. Outside the window, fields of silver passed by. Alfie the frog joined them.
Chugga... Chugga... Chugga... The train slowed down. Its rhythm was soft and slow, like a heartbeat. Jack’s head rested on Flo’s shoulder. Flo’s head rested on Alfie.
‘Next stop, Dreamland,’ whispered the driver. But the passengers were already there, fast asleep. Chugga... Chugga... Shhh.
