Kira the koala packed a picnic basket full of jam tarts and a flask of fizzy juice. ‘The moon is the perfect place for a picnic,’ she said, and zoomed up in the rocket.
On the moon, Kira met Alfie the alien, a friendly alien, and Rufus the robot. ‘We love picnics!’ said Alfie. They spread a blanket on the grey, dusty ground.
But as soon as Kira unpacked the jam tarts, they floated away! Up they went, one by one, drifting like little balloons. ‘Catch them!’ shouted Kira.
Kira jumped to catch one and flew ten metres in the air. Alfie bounced after them and ended up upside down. Rufus did a somersault, beeped and landed in a crater.
Then the fizzy juice popped open, and a big blob of juice floated into the air like a wobbly orange moon. Everyone burst out laughing. They lay on their backs and tried to catch it in their mouths.
After a while, the picnic was all eaten, or at least caught. Kira had juice on her helmet and crumbs in her suit. ‘Best picnic ever,’ she sighed. ‘Same time next week?’ said Alfie.
The little lesson
