Chugga-chugga, chugga-chugga, choo, choo. The little night train rolled into the station. It was painted dark blue with silver stars. ‘All aboard for Dreamland!’ called the driver softly.
Kira the koala climbed aboard in her nightcap, yawning. ‘Ticket, please,’ said the driver. Kira handed over a little piece of paper. There was a seat by the window, with a soft, squashy cushion.
At Starlight Station, the train stopped. Basil the bear hopped on, carrying a teddy. ‘May I sit here?’ asked Basil. ‘Of course,’ whispered Kira. They shared a blanket.
Chugga-chugga, chugga-chugga. The train went over a gentle hill. It went through a tunnel of stars. Outside the window, fields of silver passed by. Rocco the rabbit joined them.
Chugga... Chugga... Chugga... The train slowed down. Its rhythm was soft and slow, like a heartbeat. Kira’s head rested on Basil’s shoulder. Basil’s head rested on Rocco.
‘Next stop, Dreamland,’ whispered the driver. But the passengers were already there, fast asleep. Chugga... Chugga... Shhh.
