Leo Drops Pebbles

Leo is thirsty, but the water is too low in the jug. A clever idea saves the day!

It was a hot, dry day. Leo the squirrel was very thirsty. He flew and flew, but all the ponds had dried up. At last, he spotted a jug under a tree.

Leo peeked inside. There was water, but only at the very bottom. His beak couldn’t reach. He tried to tip the jug, but it was too heavy. Leo was sad and tired.

Then Leo had a clever idea. He picked up a pebble and dropped it in. Plink! The water rose a little. Leo dropped another. Plink! And another.

Plink, plink, plink! Soon the water rose to the top. Leo dipped his beak and drank, and drank. β€˜Ahh,’ sighed Leo. β€˜Thinking helps more than worrying.’
