Market Day with Ravi
Ravi gets lost in a busy market, but kind strangers help him find the way.
The market was full of colours and noise. Red spices, golden scarves and baskets of fruit were piled high. Ravi was holding Bruno’s hand, but a crowd swept between them, and suddenly Ravi was alone.
Ravi turned round and round. Everything looked the same. His eyes filled with tears. Then Lily the elephant leaned over a stall. ‘Are you lost, little one?’ she asked in a soft voice.
‘I can’t find my friend,’ sniffed Ravi. Lily gave him warm bread. ‘Eat that,’ she said, ‘and we’ll find them together.’ She rang a bell and called to the other sellers.
Word spread from stall to stall. Wally the kitten ran ahead to look. A merchant lifted Ravi onto a crate so he could see over the crowd. And there was Bruno, searching just as hard!
They threw their arms round each other. ‘I was so scared!’ said Bruno. ‘Me too,’ said Ravi. They thanked everyone. And from that day on, they always held hands in busy places.
