Mateo Chases the Hat
A gust of wind blows Mateo’s hat away, and it lands in some very silly places.
Mateo the lamb had a new bright red hat. It was the best hat in the whole world. Mateo wore it to the park and spun round and round. ‘Look at me!’ he cried.
But then, WHOOSH! A strong gust of wind blew by and plucked the hat right off Mateo’s head! It flew up, up, up into the sky. ‘My hat!’ shouted Mateo. ‘Come back!’
Mateo ran after it. The hat sailed over the fence and landed on the horns of a cow. ‘Oh dear,’ said Zane, who had come running. ‘How will we get it back?’ But then WHOOSH! The hat blew away again.
It bounced on a haystack. It spun round the weather vane. It dropped into a bucket and flipped out again. Mateo, Zane and Arjun the pony chased it everywhere.
At last, the wind got tired. The hat drifted down, down, down, and landed with a soft plop on Mateo’s head, right where it belonged. Everybody stared. Then everybody cheered!
‘I think the wind just wanted to dance,’ laughed Zane. Mateo took a ribbon and tied it under his chin. Now the hat would stay on. And if the wind wanted to dance again, Mateo would dance with it.
