Max Finds a Voice
Max has a tiny voice. One day, it turns out to be just the right size.
In the jungle, everyone had a big voice. Benji the bear could roar. Zoe the giraffe could screech. But Max the mouse could only make a chirp.
βSpeak up!β said everyone. Max tried and tried, but only a chirp came out. Max felt sad. βI wish I had a big voice,β he said. Benji gave Max a hug. βYou are perfect as you are,β he said.
That night, a storm rolled in. Thunder boomed and rain poured. Baby Zoe was lost in the thick leaves. All the big voices called, but the thunder drowned them out.
Max listened. Between thunder claps, he heard a faint cry. It was high and thin, the kind of sound that big voices couldnβt hear. Max called back with a chirp. And Zoe heard it.
Following the tiny sound, Zoe found the way home. Everyone cheered. βOnly Max could make a sound that carries through the storm!β said Benji. Max grinned.
