Max Makes a Rainbow
Max wonders where rainbows come from, and discovers how to make one at home.
After the rain, a rainbow arced across the sky. βWhere do rainbows come from?β Max asked Juno the fox. Juno didnβt know. So Max decided to find out.
Max read that rainbows happen when sunlight shines through raindrops. The light bends and splits into seven colours. βI could do that,β Max thought, βat home!β
Max stood in the sunlight with a prism. He held it up, and tilted it. Suddenly, the wall lit up with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet! βA rainbow!β Max cried.
Juno tried to catch the colours with her paws, but they slipped away. They laughed, and danced in the little rainbow until the sun slid behind a cloud.
That evening, Max drew a picture of the rainbow in a notebook. βNow I know,β he wrote. βLight has all the colours inside it.β And Max smiled, feeling like a real scientist.
