Maya at the Seaside
Maya builds a sandcastle, and the tide comes in. Oh no! Or maybe, oh yes!
It was a hot, sunny day at the beach. Maya had a bucket and spade, and a big idea: to build the tallest sandcastle in the world. Louie the raccoon said, βIβll help!β
They dug and piled and patted. They built towers, walls and a moat. They decorated the top with pebbles. Tessa the turtle peeked out of the waves and clapped a claw. βSplendid!β
But slowly, slowly, the sea crept closer. Swish, swish. A little wave touched the moat. A bigger wave touched the wall. βOh no!β cried Maya. βThe tide is coming in!β
Whoosh! The water washed over the castle, and it melted into smooth sand. Maya stared. Then she laughed. βWeβll build another one tomorrow,β she said. Tessa nodded. βThe sea will always bring more sand.β
The sun set, red and gold. Maya sat on the sand, tired and happy. βMaking it was the best bit,β she said. And Louie agreed.
