Nate Finds a Friend
Nate is so shy that he hides from everyone, until a friend needs help.
Nate the snail was very, very shy. When anyone said hello, Nate hid behind a mushroom. ‘Maybe they won’t notice me,’ he whispered.
One windy day, Yara the pony came by. Yara was sniffling. ‘I’ve lost my lucky star,’ said Yara. ‘It blew away, and I can’t find it anywhere.’
Nate peeked out. He wanted to help, but his voice felt tiny. ‘I... I... ‘ he began. But the words were too small to hear.
Then Nate saw something shiny high up on a branch. It was the lucky star! Nate was small and quick, so he climbed up, up, up, and gently plucked it down.
Nate tiptoed over to Yara and held out the lucky star. ‘Oh!’ said Yara. ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you!’ Yara gave Nate the biggest hug.
‘Would you like to be friends?’ asked Yara. Nate took a tiny breath. ‘Yes,’ he said. It was the loudest yes he had ever said.
The little lesson

Let’s talk about it
