Omar Explores the Haunted House
Omar and friends dare each other to look inside the spooky house. What they find is a surprise.
At the end of the street stood a tall, dark house with creaky shutters and a crooked door. Everyone said it was haunted. One windy evening, Pip dared Omar to knock.
Omar gulped, but nodded. They crept up the path, step by step. The gate squeaked. A shutter banged. Something moved behind the curtain. They held hands tightly.
Omar knocked. The door creaked slowly open. A tall shadow appeared. ‘Hello?’ it said. They screamed! But it was only Lola the bear, holding a plate of warm buns.
‘Don’t be frightened,’ said Lola. ‘Come in, come in.’ Inside it was warm and bright. They met a quiet baker making giant cakes. ‘We thought you were a ghost!’ laughed Pip. ‘I get that a lot,’ said Lola.
They stayed for hours, eating warm buns and hearing stories. When they left, Omar said, ‘Thank you for having us.’ ‘Come back anytime,’ said Lola. And the house never seemed spooky again.
