Omar’s Noise in the Night
Omar hears a strange knock in the night. Who could it be?
It was night, and the stars were out. Omar the frog was snuggled in bed, nearly asleep. Then, pitter, patter, pitter, patter. Omar sat up. ‘What was that?’
Omar pulled the blanket up to his nose. Pitter, patter, pitter, patter went the noise again. Omar tiptoed to the door and peeked outside. Nobody there. Just the dark.
Omar went to wake Ollie the owl. ‘I heard something,’ whispered Omar. ‘Let’s find out what it is,’ said Ollie. ‘Together, we aren’t afraid.’
They crept along the path. Pitter, patter, pitter, patter went the noise. It was coming from behind a big tree. Omar held Ollie’s hand tightly. ‘One, two, three... Look!’
And there was Finn the mouse! ‘Oh, hello,’ said Finn. ‘I’m sorry to wake you. I was looking for a friend.’ Omar felt silly for being afraid. He smiled.
They took Finn home for warm milk and a cosy blanket. Soon all three friends were fast asleep. And the only noise in the night was gentle snoring.
