Opal the Octopus Plays Hide and Seek
Opal the octopus is the best hider in the sea. Can anybody find her?
Opal the octopus could do a clever trick. She could change colour to match anything! Today, she wanted to play hide-and-seek with Idris and Pearl.
‘One, two, three, four, five,’ counted Idris, covering her eyes. Opal wriggled away through the water. She swam to the pink coral. And she turned pink! Her arms and body blended in.
Idris opened her eyes. ‘Ready or not, here I come!’ Idris swam over the sandy bed. ‘Are you under this shell? No.’ Idris looked behind the rock. ‘No.’ Idris looked inside a bottle. ‘No.’
Pearl looked up and down. ‘Where could Opal be?’ Pearl wondered. They looked all over the sea. Nothing. They looked a second time. Nothing. They were completely stumped.
Then Idris giggled. ‘I can see two eyes!’ Two big eyes were peeking out from the pink coral, and they were blinking. Opal burst out laughing, turned back to normal, and everyone cheered.
‘Your turn to hide!’ said Opal. And so they played again and again, until the water grew dark. They went home with tired fins and happy hearts, and all dreamed of colourful sea games.
