It was bedtime in the forest, but Percy the piglet wasn’t sleepy. He skipped. He hopped. He bounced on the bed. ‘I’m not tired!’ he cried.
Sana the snail wasn’t tired either. Sana was dancing in the moonlight. And Elsa the pony couldn’t sleep with so much noise. ‘Oh dear,’ sighed Elsa.
Up in the sky, the moon heard them. She was big and round and kind, and she knew just what to do. Very softly, she began to hum.
‘rest, little heart, rest,’ hummed the moon. Her song floated down on silver beams. It tickled the treetops and whispered through the leaves. Everyone stopped to listen.
Sana stopped dancing. Sana sat down and yawned. Elsa wrapped her blanket round herself. And Percy rubbed his eyes. ‘Maybe a tiny bit tired,’ he said.
The moon sang on and on, softer and softer. One by one, the animals curled up. One snore, two snores, three. And the moon smiled and sang a little longer, just to be sure.
