Ravi’s Spell Goes Wrong
Ravi is trying to tidy up with a spell, but a few words get muddled. Everything goes bonkers!
Ravi was the wizard’s apprentice. Today, Wizard Toby the turtle was out, and the tower was in a terrible mess. ‘I’ll use magic to tidy up!’ said Ravi. ‘How hard can it be?’
Ravi flicked his wand and said the words from the big spell book: ‘Tidy-tum, tidy-tee, put things where they ought to be!’ But he was in such a hurry that he muddled the words.
POOF! The rug suddenly turned into a flying carpet! It went whoosh, whoosh, whoosh all around the room. Ravi’s mouth fell open. ‘Oh no. Oh no, no, no.’
Ravi tried again. POOF! The ink pot started singing. POOF! The candles began to dance. Things were getting sillier by the second. ‘Stop, stop, STOP!’ cried Ravi.
Just then, the door creaked open. It was Toby the turtle, back from the market. He stood quite still, looking at the dancing candles and the singing ink. Ravi gulped.
‘I’m sorry,’ Ravi said quickly. ‘I tried to do a spell and got the words wrong. I should have waited for you.’ Toby didn’t shout. He gave a kind, wrinkly smile.
‘Mistakes are how wizards learn,’ said Toby. Together they said the words slowly and carefully, and everything went back to normal. And this time, Ravi tidied up the old-fashioned way, with a broom.
