Abracadabra, Oops, Xena!
Xena is trying to tidy up with a spell, but a few words get muddled. Everything goes bonkers!
Xena was the wizard’s apprentice. Today, Wizard Ella the elephant was out, and the tower was in a terrible mess. ‘I’ll use magic to tidy up!’ said Xena. ‘How hard can it be?’
Xena flicked her wand and said the words from the big spell book: ‘Tidy-tum, tidy-tee, put things where they ought to be!’ But she was in such a hurry that she muddled the words.
POOF! Every sock suddenly turned into a flock of butterflies! It went flutter, flutter, flutter all around the room. Xena’s mouth fell open. ‘Oh no. Oh no, no, no.’
Xena tried again. POOF! The ink pot started singing. POOF! The candles began to dance. Things were getting sillier by the second. ‘Stop, stop, STOP!’ cried Xena.
Just then, the door creaked open. It was Ella the elephant, back from the market. She stood quite still, looking at the dancing candles and the singing ink. Xena gulped.
‘I’m sorry,’ Xena said quickly. ‘I tried to do a spell and got the words wrong. I should have waited for you.’ Ella didn’t shout. She gave a kind, wrinkly smile.
‘Mistakes are how wizards learn,’ said Ella. Together they said the words slowly and carefully, and everything went back to normal. And this time, Xena tidied up the old-fashioned way, with a broom.
