Rosie Follows the Rainbow Mist

Rosie and friends hike through the jungle to find a waterfall that no one has ever seen.

Rosie and Nell found an old map in a book. It showed a hidden waterfall deep in the rainforest, marked with the words, ‘Follow the singing.’ They packed their backpacks and set off.

A guide named Mateo the monkey met them at the edge of the trees. ‘The jungle is full of surprises,’ said Mateo. ‘Stay together and listen carefully.’ The three walked deeper into the green.

The path was hard. They crossed a swampy bog, balancing on logs. They climbed a steep, slippery hill. Nell nearly gave up. ‘We can do it,’ said Rosie, ‘if we help each other.’ Rosie held out a hand.

At last, they heard it, a soft musical sound, like a hundred tiny bells. They pushed through the leaves, and gasped. A silver waterfall poured down a cliff, with a rainbow in the mist and shining crystals all around.

‘It’s the Singing Falls,’ whispered Mateo. ‘The water makes music as it hits the stones.’ They sat in the cool spray and listened. Rosie thought it was the loveliest sound in the world.

They promised to keep the place secret and safe. On the way home, Nell said, ‘I’m glad you didn’t let me quit.’ Rosie grinned. ‘That’s what friends are for.’
