Sandcastle Day with Chloe
Chloe builds a sandcastle, and the tide comes in. Oh no! Or maybe, oh yes!
It was a hot, sunny day at the beach. Chloe had a bucket and spade, and a big idea: to build the tallest sandcastle in the world. Daisy the frog said, ‘I’ll help!’
They dug and piled and patted. They built towers, walls and a moat. They decorated the top with sticks and feathers. Wally the whale peeked out of the waves and clapped a claw. ‘Splendid!’
But slowly, slowly, the sea crept closer. Swish, swish. A little wave touched the moat. A bigger wave touched the wall. ‘Oh no!’ cried Chloe. ‘The tide is coming in!’
Whoosh! The water washed over the castle, and it melted into smooth sand. Chloe stared. Then she laughed. ‘We’ll build another one tomorrow,’ she said. Wally nodded. ‘The sea will always bring more sand.’
The sun set, red and gold. Chloe sat on the sand, tired and happy. ‘Making it was the best bit,’ she said. And Daisy agreed.
