Stan’s Wizard’s Apprentice and the Wrong Spell
Stan is trying to tidy up with a spell, but a few words get muddled. Everything goes bonkers!
Stan was the wizard’s apprentice. Today, Wizard Zoe the bear was out, and the tower was in a terrible mess. ‘I’ll use magic to tidy up!’ said Stan. ‘How hard can it be?’
Stan flicked his wand and said the words from the big spell book: ‘Tidy-tum, tidy-tee, put things where they ought to be!’ But he was in such a hurry that he muddled the words.
POOF! The books suddenly turned into fluttering birds! It went tweet, tweet, tweet all around the room. Stan’s mouth fell open. ‘Oh no. Oh no, no, no.’
Stan tried again. POOF! The ink pot started singing. POOF! The candles began to dance. Things were getting sillier by the second. ‘Stop, stop, STOP!’ cried Stan.
Just then, the door creaked open. It was Zoe the bear, back from the market. He stood quite still, looking at the dancing candles and the singing ink. Stan gulped.
‘I’m sorry,’ Stan said quickly. ‘I tried to do a spell and got the words wrong. I should have waited for you.’ Zoe didn’t shout. She gave a kind, wrinkly smile.
‘Mistakes are how wizards learn,’ said Zoe. Together they said the words slowly and carefully, and everything went back to normal. And this time, Stan tidied up the old-fashioned way, with a broom.
