Wait for It, Aisha!
Aisha plants a seed and waits. And waits. And waits some more.
In spring, Bear the bear gave Aisha a tiny seed. βItβs a sunflower,β said Bear. βPlant it in the soil, give it water and sun, and be patient.β Aisha dug a little hole.
Every morning, Aisha ran to look. Nothing. Not even a sprout. βIs it broken?β she asked Hattie. βPlants take time,β said Hattie. Aisha sighed, but watered the soil once more.
A week passed. Then two. Then, one morning, Aisha saw something green poking up. A tiny shoot, no bigger than a thumb. Aisha gasped. βItβs growing!β Hattie danced round and round.
Soon the shoot was a stem, with leaves and then a bud. Aisha watered it, sang to it and shielded it from the wind. And one sunny day, the bud opened, and there was a beautiful sunflower.
βYou waited so patiently,β said Bear. Aisha smiled at the sunflower. βIt was worth every day,β she said. And she saved a seed for next spring.
The little lesson
