Super Beth Saves the Day
All the big superheroes are too big to fit. But Beth is just the right size!
In Superhero City, there were many heroes. Bella the bear was super strong. Arlo the kitten could run super fast. And Beth the bee? Beth was very, very small.
‘You can’t be a superhero,’ said the others, kindly. ‘You’re too tiny.’ Beth put on her cape. ‘I will be the best tiny hero ever!’ she said. Her cape was a bit too big, and it dragged on the ground.
One morning, the alarm bell rang. DING-DONG! A baby bird’s nest had fallen into a thin hollow tree. ‘Quick!’ said Bella. Bella tried to squeeze in, but she was too big. Arlo tried to reach in, but his arm was too short.
‘Let me try,’ said Beth. She puffed up her chest. She stood up straight. And she slipped into the hollow and lifted the nest up. It was a tight squeeze, but Beth did it!
Everybody cheered. ‘We couldn’t do that!’ said Bella. ‘Thank you, Beth!’ Arlo lifted Beth on his shoulders. ‘We need you,’ said Arlo. ‘You’re the only one who can fit.’
That evening, Beth sat on a rooftop looking at the glowing city. She smiled. Some days it’s good to be strong. Some days it’s good to be fast. And some days, it’s good to be small.
